BREAKING NEWS: Police Say Gunman Opens Fire Near Southern California College

SANTA MONICA, Calif. (AP) — A shooting has been reported near the campus of Southern California’s Santa Monica College.

Santa Monica police Sgt. Rudy Flores stated that several victims are down and the shooter is also believed to be down, according to the AP.

Flores says numerous witnesses called to report a man on a street corner shooting at vehicles including a bus.

Coincidentally, the location is about three miles from where President Barack Obama is appearing at a fundraiser.

Secret Service spokesman, Max Milien, tole the AP that the agency was aware of the shooting and it’s not affecting the president’s event.

Santa Monica College is a two-year college with about 34,000 students. The campus in the coastal Los Angeles suburb spreads out over 38 acres.
