A Roadmap For Education Reform: Time For the Adults to do Our Homework

Those who have followed my project know full well how passionate I am about education reform. In its current state, the government monopoly on education is a system designed to keep minorities downtrodden, and whites “rationally ignorant.” As I outlined in my book, not one single progressive prophecy of doom and gloom from education reform has ever come to pass in the school systems that have implemented – without measures to ensure its failure – school choice as part of education reforms.

The United States of America was the first society in modern Western Civilization to undertake the task of educating the whole of society, and did so with the understanding that truth is essential to liberty. Tyrants always withhold, distort, and misdirect away from empowerment and free-thinking. Why is K-12 education the only product or service that Americans do not demand competition and quality in return for their investment?

What we have in America today, is a school system designed to mass-produce ignorance and ideology that is less than skeptical of government. Unions, bureaucrats, and politicians always come before our children’s education and future, and the only way to assure their liberty is to reform the despotic education apparatus.

I have included the brief synthesis below, and the link that follows will bring you to each and every individual plan to systematically reform our nation’s education apparatus into a liberty-bearing institution, which teaches self-empowerment and encourages free thought. As impressive as past school choice and reform programs have been, the fact remains that these programs are too often implemented atop of rotten bureaucratic structure, which serves to undermine progress and reform.

Roadmap To Education Reform

A note from AEI:

Well-meaning education reformers are too often content to layer their new proposals atop outdated schools and systems. Unsurprisingly, school improvement efforts have repeatedly failed to deliver the results for which we hoped. Doing radically better will require state, civic, and system leaders to embrace a more coherent and comprehensive push to overhaul antiquated structures, regulations, policies, and practices.

Here, a group of leading educational thinkers sketches a bold set of interlocking strategies for dramatically improving the instruction, operations, governance, accountability, talent management, budgeting, and leadership of an entire educational ecosystem. The contributors use Milwaukee, Wisconsin, a city recognized for its pioneering school choice efforts, as a prism through which to examine what this overhaul will look like in practice.
