Live results for the 2023 Utah House District 2 Special Election between Republican Celeste Maloy and Democrat Kathleen Riebe. The election will fill the vacancy left by Republican Rep. Chris Stewart, who resigned on May 31, 2023, citing ongoing health issues with his wife. Libertarian Brad Green, Constitution Cassie Easley, United Utah January Walker, Independents Perry Myer and Joseph Buchman are also on the ballot.
Celeste Maloy, who served as counsel for outgoing Rep. Chris Stewart, scored an upset victory against the once-favored Becky Edwards, a liberal Republican from Salt Lake. Democratic State Senator Kathleen Riebe overwhelmingly won the backing of the party convention.
Polls are open on Election Day from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m local time, though elections are largely conducted via vote-by-mail statewide.
