Consumer Price Index (CPI) Rises Less than Median Forecast

The Labor Department reported on Friday that the Consumer Price Index, gauging prices at the consumer level, rose by just 0.2% in June. Prices were expected to increase by 0.3%. Excluding the volatile food and energy components, prices were also 0.2% higher, that estimate was for a rise of 0.2% matching expectations.
