Romney Says GOP-Led Senate Will Change Dynamic In D.C., Pass Immigration Reform

Mitt Romney said on Fox News Sunday that Election Day will be Americans’ “last chance” to hold President Obama accountable, but part of his closing midterm arguments also included a prediction that the president will soon order amnesty for illegal immigrants and, oh yeah, a GOP-led Senate will pass immigration reform.

“I think we all know where the president in heading after the elections,” the former 2012 Republican presidential nominee said regarding amnesty.  In fact, recently uncovered government print orders are requesting vendors supply upwards of 34 million blank work permits and green cards, suggesting Obama will grant executive amnesty after the November elections.

Romney declined to predict that his Republican Party would win enough Senate seats Tuesday to take control of the chamber, but he was sure the GOP would win enough House and Senate races to change the political landscape in Washington and, much to the chagrin of the Republican base the party is counting on to show up Tuesday, pass comprehensive immigration legislation.

“That’s going to happen,” Romney said. “You’re going to be a bill actually reached the desk of the president, if we finally have someone besides Harry Reid sitting in the Senate.”

Romney also said that a new Senate would allow otherwise tabled bills to get to Obama’s desk, which he said will show Americans that Republicans are not the party responsible for the gridlock in Washington, D.C.

“Some he will sign, some he won’t sign,” Romney said. “But I think we’ll finally see who is the party of no.”

He argued that Obama over the past six years has fallen short on several major issues, including the signing of ObamaCare, not securing the southern U.S. border, not approving the Keystone XL crude oil pipeline, not improving the economy and failing to significantly improve public education.

“This is really the last chance for Americans to pass judgment on President Obama,” Romney said.
