Pompeo on Migrant Caravan: “Deeply Concerned by Violence,” and “Political Motivation”

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said he was “deeply concerned by the violence provoked by some members” of the migrant caravan on its way to the U.S. southern border. Despite the efforts of the Mexican government, a growing group of Central American migrants numbering in the thousands resumed their advance toward the U.S. border early Sunday.

“We are concerned that these migrants may be victimized by human smugglers or others who would exploit them,” Mr. Pompeo said in an emailed statement. :We also are deeply concerned by the violence provoked by some members of the group, as well as the apparent political motivation of some organizers of the caravan.”

Though there were no official numbers, the lead caravan is estimated to amount to roughly 7,000. There is now a second caravan of about 1,000, which left Honduras and is working its way toward linking up with the main group.

President Donald Trump tweeted Monday the United States will begin cutting off foreign aid to countries that have failed to stop a growing group of thousands of migrants marching its way through Mexico and to the U.S. border.

He singled out Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. The latter is home base for the violent MS-13 gang and immigration is the primary source of their recruitment.

“Sadly, it looks like Mexico’s Police and Military are unable to stop the Caravan heading to the Southern Border of the United States,” the president tweeted. “Criminals and unknown Middle Easterners are mixed in. I have alerted Border Patrol and Military that this is a National Emergy. Must change laws!”

“Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador were not able to do the job of stopping people from leaving their country and coming illegally to the U.S.,” the president added. “We will now begin cutting off, or substantially reducing, the massive foreign aid routinely given to them.”

Leftwing political and immigration activists working with organizations like Pueblo Sin Fronteras to arrange for these caravans to illegally cross at a non-port of entry to claim asylum. The Trump Administration has ramped up the prosecutions of false asylum claims, setting records.

Ex-legislator Bartolo Fuentes, who is said to have organized the march, was detained by Guatemalan authorities after failing to register with migration officials upon entering the country. Wilmer Simon Gomez and Michael Fajardo were among two others detained from the migrant group.

  • Do not reduce the foreign aid we give to these South American countries that are letting their people come to invade the United States. CUT IT OFF COMPLETELY AND THAT INCLUDES MEXICO.

    • I agree wholeheartedly. Mexico is every bit as responsible for this as the democrats are. And if the Trump Administration allows them to cross and invade our Country the President will own it! I hope our Military is already preparing to actionally secure the border!

  • We can fix this new caravan crisis without any drama, without the Democratic Party narrative being played over and over in a continuous loop. It’s simple. All the President has to do is just “Man-up” and seal the border. “Batta boom,” it’s solved, done.

By all means, please do go ahead and deploy the military. And coordinate, or at least announce coordination with the Mexican government, but just seal the border. Close it down, all the crossings. American citizens will be processed of course, but very slowly and carefully. Everyone and every thing else gets turned back. Shut it down closed, as tight as a frog’s hind quarters, a regular, military, check point Charlie, or Carlos, if you prefer.

Then we can begin some deliberate, patient and informed diplomatic discussions with Mexico about how we can secure our mutual frontier. That will cost a lot of very big people a lot of big money and the Mexicans will immediately put their thinking sombreros on. And so will the American corporations.who engineered this bit of NAFTA globalism in the first place. Personally, I have a great deal of sympathy for both of these special interests, but the solution is to make America’s problem, their problem. And that’s the big insight boys and girls, if anyone wants to be serious. That’s why they pay me the big bucks.

The Democrats with all of their happy horse schit will suddenly become the problem of some very serious and substantial interests. Wanna bet it gets solved fast? Would anyone care to wager, but the problem of a secure border becomes a defacto win/win? You see, my dad showed me the back of his hand once. The lesson was, dare I say jarring? The message conveyed, “Where’s there a will; there’s a way.”

As President, the chief executive’s foremost duty is to protect the American heartland from invasion. That would be President Trump’s very under stated position and he can only be expected to be unmovable in his commitment to America’s security. Everything else can be expected to become the pressing problem of those interests who want the border reopened.

It’s really not very hard at all, and, if you should find yourself hard put, truly wanting to solve a problem, give me a call. I solve problems for a living. It’s what I do.

  • I think it would be a good idea to put up billboards along the intended route of the caravan of illegals warning them that they are UNWANTED and UNWELCOME and will be forcibly turned away by the US military should they be foolish enough to continue their trek. Any who do manage to cross illegally will be considered felonious criminals and be charged accordingly.
